Emily Cavey is a freelance cellist and string tutor. 

Emily Cavey is an accomplished cellist from England, now based in Australia. She trained at the prestigious Royal Academy of Music in London on a full scholarship, and has performed across Europe with the Chekhov String Trio.

Since relocating to Australia in 2008, Emily has established herself as a versatile performer, playing regularly with The Metropolitan Orchestra and the Willoughby Symphony Orchestra, and performing in several musical theatre productions each year.

She is a core member of both the Strings Attached Ensemble and the Aurelian Ensemble, presenting numerous recitals that reflect her deep passion for chamber music.

Emily had a very musical childhood, the eldest of four who were all awarded full music scholarships to Wells Cathedral School, England. At the age of 12 she performed Haydn’s Cello Concerto in C in Russia on a school trip, and won the annual concerto competition at Wells to perform Elgar’s Cello Concerto in the beautiful Wells Cathedral.

Emily performed twice at the Manchester International Cello Festival and has had masterclasses with Colin Carr, Robert Cohan, Adrian Bradbury, Howard Davies, Aleksander Pavlovic, Jerry Kosmala, Sigmund Nissal, Thomas Brandis, Karina Georgian, Louise Hopkins and David Strange.

Emily enjoys giving regular cello recitals, exploring new, old, and favourite works, and collaborating with other local artists.

She also performs as a solo cellist at weddings, funerals, and other special events, tailoring the music to match the ambience of each occasion.

Emily works closely with her clients to ensure every detail is perfect, creating a truly bespoke musical experience.
